Never GOOGLE!

Ask my husband. I'm a huge worrier and an even bigger hypochondriac. J is as cool as a cucumber. Never worries. Today he woke me up freaked out cause he said he's jaw line was swollen. (I couldn't really tell.) He said it was puffy and it hurt to the touch. It was on both sides. So he immediately wants to call the doc to schedule an appt. This is not the man I married! He hates the doc. So now I'm freaking out cause my usually nonchalent husband is freaking out.

He got an appt with the doc. Doc said he had swollen lymphnodes in his neck. The probable cause is that he is fighting off some form of infection. He'll need to go back in a week if they are still bothering him.

So I'm at work today and I google "swollen lymphnodes." Big mistake!

The first thing I see is CANCER. It's not even the first heading or anything. IT's in the fine print of an article. But my brain pops it out like it's the Hollywood Sign. The article goes on to say that the most likely cause of swollen lymphnodes is an infection and that it's VERY VERY unlikely it's anything else. Good signs for J are that the swolleness of the glands is sudden and not a gradual occurence.

I'm sure it's nothing. I just love freaking myself out. I need to post a sticky note by all my comps that remind me "NEVER GOOGLE!"

Pet Peeve

Why do parents move in the middle of the year? I know that sometimes our jobs make us move and such. But I just had a new student yesterday. I spoke to her mom and she said that they moved because she just needed a change. Later, my new student told us that her mom was just tired of their old house. ????? Huh?

So now I have a new student

The 3 hour Glucose Test

In a nutshell, I passed!!!!

The longer version: I arrived at 8:30. The tech took my initial sugar at 82. It had to be below 95 so that was good. I drank an awful, awful sugary drink that was much sweeter than yesterday's. It made me want to throw up, but I kept it in. So I sat and waited and read until 9:35. Tech took another finger prick and my sugar was 165. It had to be below 180. Check! I went back and waited another hour. (By now my booty was numb from the wooden chairs, I had a headache from staring at the bright yellow walls, and I wanted water!) At 10:40 I got another prick and another reading. It needed to be below 160 and my sugar was 152. At this point, I felt a lot better. After researching it last night, I knew that most docs would accept that I didn't have GD if at least 3 of my 4 sugars was in range. Since I knew that 3 of the my 4 would be good, I felt a huge wave of relief. Finally when I thought I was about to faint from hunger, it was 11:40 and time for the final prick. My sugar was 146. It needed to be 140 or less. Oops. The tech mentioned that my doc would probably want me to make a few changes in diet, but we'd discuss that at my next appt in Feb.

Thank goodness it's over!

24 week appt yesterday

The actual appt was fine. But I had my GD test afterwards. It was just the one hour screening. The cut off blood suger was 135 and I had 146. Now I have to go in for the three hour test.

I'm going in about an hour and I've been fasting since last night. I really hope I don't have it. I'll be depressed if I do.

Wish me luck.

Trip to the In-laws, Work, Goob

Our trip was fun. We got to see J's parents, his brother, one of his sisters and her hubby, his grandparents, and a few of his aunts and cousins. A great time was had....with one exception. I'm going to kill my brother-in-law. I feel like he's jealous of my unborn son. It's really weird. and a long story that I'll bore your with later.

I go back to work tomorrow, and I have my 24 week appt and glucose test tomorrow afternoon. Exciting.

Goob has been kicking up a storm lately. I'm enjoying it. And J is finally able to feel it. Life is good.

Our Resolution

J and I've talked about all our money issues today. We discussed ways to save ourselves money. We're going to get rid of our home phone (which we NEVER use) and get rid of some of our cable features on our TV.

We made a budget that includes our current utilities and our credit payments. But the best part of the budget is that we're going to be saving $500 a month. We know that our nanny is going to charge us $100 a week to watch Goob so that's $400 a month. We won't need the nanny until the end of August so all the money we're saving will just be our stock pile in case of anything. Also, J should be getting a pay raise come March. It should be a substantial pay raise so whatever we have extra will just go towards credit payments.

It's going to be hard to cut out all the extra spending. We'll really have to work at it. But I think we're determined to make it work. It'll mean no more eating out and no more frivoulous spending!! But it's all for the baby.

Our new budget will start Jan 25th which is the next time we get paid again. Wish us luck.

Wow. I look huge in that picture.

Happy New Year!

So it's 2008. I must admit that I'm thankful that 2007 is over. Don't get me wrong-it was a great year. I married the man of my dreams and found out that we're expecting our first son. But it was a stressful year with all the changes that went on.

And now it's a new year. I love new years. It's like a fresh start. I don't really have any specific resolutions. I do just want to save as much money as we can for Goob. We're doing good right now. I just need to be vigilant about it.
J and I spent a very low-key New Year's. When you're about six months pregnant, it's hard to go all out. We went to Tony Roma's for an early dinner and then home to watch some TV. I actually think that we were asleep for the New Year. At least I was. What do you expect????
Happy New Year!!!

Baby's Name & Kicks!

So J and I've decided to name our son after him. It's a family tradition. But our lil guy will be called by his middle name - Christian.

Speaking of Christian, I think I'm starting to feel some kicks. I *just* felt something in my lower abdomen. Hopefully they'll keep getting stronger and I'll know for sure!!!

Trying to be a better cook...

So I pretty much suck in the kitchen. I can't cook. Or maybe I just don't want to. But whatever the issue, it needs to stop. I'm fixing to be a mommy and we certainly can't keep eating out all the time. This is something I've been thinking a lot about. Today I decided to use my resources and do something.

I stumbled on to a jackpot.

http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/Dinner/1Bag5Dinners/

It's Kraft Food's 1 Bag, 5 Dinners. It has easy, simple meals that are all included on a shopping list for the whole week. It's pretty nice. I've printed out a whole bunch. I think I have like 8 weeks of recipes.

I'm going to talk to J at dinner tonite and get his opinon. We can go through some of the recipes together and see which ones will work for us. He's a picky eater. So I'm hoping to convince him to try everything once.

We'll see.

Whirlwind Weekend

We spent the weekend in Houston. My parents and brother insist on driving me crazy. It's like they know what pisses me off and then they zero in on it. It happened twice this weekend. I'm sure it's the pregnancy hormones, but jeez. Speaking of my brother, he's going through his "asshole" stage in life. He's a philosophy major, so he's questioning anything and everything. And he knows what to say to upset my parents. So the weekend was a little crazy.

T.G.I.F*#^ Day!

(I've seen too many Sex and the City reruns cause that's the first thing that pops in my head when I hear TGIF.)

Anyways, today was a crazy busy day. J's car is broken so we had to take it to the shop this morning. The shop opens at 7:30 and I had to be at school by 8. School is about 30+ miles from shop. I don't know how we made it, but we did. I guess J does know how to speed. It was shocking!

My poor kiddos were worked to death today. Usually, Fridays are lazy days. We just take a few tests and work on a project or two, but not today. I had a whole list of things I wanted to get accomplished-and we did! This marking period is short cause of the Xmas holidays so I had to cram 6 weeks into 5. I know they were tired by the end of the day. They were also a little peeved at me cause I told them we'd have time to read our read-aloud (Little House on the Prairie) but we didnt.

I can't believe that I'm about to say this, but I CAN'T WAIT FOR MONDAY! Monday's our big u/s day. Will baby be a gal or a guy? I had such a life-like dream last night that it was a girl, so that's my prediction. J swears it'll be a boy. We'll see!!! This weekend needs to fly by.

About me!

So I had a blog a few years ago. Loved it. Had it customized with a pretty layout, but can't remember the password to the old account. Or it may have been deleted, who knows? So I decided to start a new one. Maybe it's best to make a new start. I'm in a totally different place than I was then.

I'm now 25 years old. I've been happily married for 6 months. And I'm 5 months pregnant with our first bundle of joy (due April 26th). (Let me repeat, I've been married for 6 months and only 5 months pregnant. I'm getting a little frustrated with people asking me to check my math!!! I WAS NOT PREGNANT WHEN I GOT MARRIED!!! Yes, I'm sure.) I'm currently a school teacher. I'm on my 4th year of teaching which I can't believe. Time flies when you're having fun. But am I really?
